It may feel like the end of the world if you find yourself in a situation where your credit score is plummeting—but fear not! There is always a way to fix your score even when it feels seemingly impossible.
- Bankruptcy or foreclosure. These are both huge ways to get a black mark on your credit score, but you can get yourself back at a normal point by getting a secured credit card, paying your bills on time, and reporting your timely rent payments.
- Didn’t establish credit early enough. It’ll be hard to take out a loan or mortgage if you waited too long to establish a credit score. But by taking out a credit card (there are plenty that cater to those with poor credit or inexistent credit), you can easily and quickly build up credit.
